Purpose of the role:
  • To establish an analytical framework that supports and monitors performance results of the Regions, generates in-depth analysis, insights and challenges to support the Consumer Business Unit.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Strategy Input:
  • Provide input into the strategy for the Commercial Finance function in the Consumer Business across the regions (i.e. for both product and channels)
  • Align all operational activities undertaken in the department to the BRIGHT strategy objectives
  • Drive best practice, iterative improvement and innovation at a strategic deployment level
  • Support the Regional Executive / CFO/ FBP to define priorities and targets for the region
Decision Making and Business Case Management:
  • Establish measurable performance parameters and standardized sources for measurement, to evaluate ongoing success of such decisions across regions 
  • Drive the business plan and forecasts of the Regional Business Unit in alignment with the BRIGHT strategic objectives
  • Oversee and drive financial modelling and business case framework that simultaneously leads, supports and governs all key commercial/ financial activities across the regions 
  • Manage access to data and other tools to create sustainable models for re-use and track performance of products and channels
Business Finance and Planning:
  • Collaborate with functional unit heads to agree on SLAs and Business Finance resources to allocate
  • Set up the regions with a clear framework of KPIs and with clear data request needs
  • Manage all the financial requirements across all divisions by providing both strategic capacity as well as advisory and administrative support i.e. across all Regions and work horizontally across the different silos (within the regions)
  • Provide strategic inputs regarding the prioritisation of the division project initiatives / portfolio of services 
  • Evaluate potential impacts of existing and new business opportunities, products, services, channels etc.
  • Provide ongoing support and direction on commercial, business and risk issues identified and recommend solutions
Financial Operations and Controlling:
  • Collaborate closely with the Financial Management team to ensure the complete, accurate and timely accounting of payable transactions relating to the regions
  • Support GM: FBP Consumer and Digital and the Procurement team in identifying and prequalifying local suppliers
  • Oversee regional governance on procurement processes and procedures
  • Oversee the activities of the Regions regarding CAPEX spend, asset management and accurate transaction processing
  • Understand the key performance drivers of the regions and provide insights across functions
  • Maintain the financial relationship with channels unit within the region (owned, non-owned/ /third party shops and agents) and ensure the correct accounting of the related financial activities
  • Liaise with Supply Chain Management (SCM) to monitor the purchasing process from demand to delivery
  • Work closely with the Revenue and Billing Team to resolve customers billing queries under SLA and ensure corrective actions are taken to forestall recurrence of identified billing issues
  • Liaise with the Financial Management/ Insurance team on regular basis to track Stores insurance cover for economical insurable risks, manage claims and act within existing insurance policies and legal obligations
  • Manage the planning process and modelling for the various regions, ensuring the full reflection of strategic guidelines
  • Oversee the management of Regional budgets and reporting monthly on spend
  • Develop and maintain effective cost efficiency plans to reduce cost drivers
  • Identify under-performing products /channels within the region and provide improvement recommendations

Education/Experience:
  • Minimum of 4 year tertiary degree / CA required
  • MBA or Masters advantageous
  • Fluent in English 
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Finance and Commercial functions
  • Experience working in a medium to large organization 
  • Planning, Reporting and Performance Management experience
  • Experience in managing others
  • Attitude of Innovation, inventiveness and thought leadership
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Financial acumen i.e. modelling analysis, projections, forecasting
  • Knowledge of IFRS / GAAP and any other reporting standards
  • Sound Telecoms commercial knowledge and experience
