Head of Marketing
Location:  Hillcrest Durban
Reporting to: Group Marketing Director
Direct reports: 6 Direct, 8 Indirect and 3 Outsourced Partners
Salary: Market related dependent upon experience

Purpose of the Role:

  • To manage the strategic and day to day marketing operational requirements of the South African operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement the Brand Strategy
  • Manage the Outsource partner performance and relationships
  • Direct Brand research and development
  • Develop the Marketing Strategy for new and existing products
  • Oversee implementation of the Marketing Strategy including campaigns, events, digital marketing and PR
  • Oversee and evaluate market research and adjust marketing strategy to meet changing markets and competitive conditions
  • Work closely with the Company’s Distribution, Customer and product teams; enabling them to meet their commercial objectives by providing them with appropriate content, tools and materials
  • Direct staffing, training and performance evaluations to develop and control sales and marketing programs
  • Ensure that the marketing objectives are implemented by the marketing teams
  • Plan and oversee advertising and promotion activities including print, online, electronic media and direct mail
  • Develop and recommend product positioning and packaging to produce the highest possible long-term market share
  • Work closely with product management team to define content, marketing materials and programs
  • Establish and maintain a consistent corporate image throughout all categories, product lines, promotional materials and events
  • Manage social media presence and direct programs to improve social media reputation and recognition
  • Develop and deliver Corporate Communications strategies for the organization.
  • Undertake continuous analysis of competitive environment and consumer trends
  • Establish and maintain relationships with industry influence's and key strategic partners
  • Represent company at trade association meeting to promote product
  • Assist other departments within organisation to prepare manuals and technical publications

Knowledge, Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Marketing
  • Proven track record of success in senior marketing role
  • Up to speed with current and online marketing techniques and best practices
  • Thorough knowledge of web analytics
  • Customer-oriented approach and aptitude
