Factory Sewing Line Manager
Location:  Strydom Park, Randburg
Salary:  R 10 000 Per Month


The Supervisor is responsible for:

  • Leading and overseeing a Sewing Section in ensuring that production is scheduled for completion and is executed in a timely manner, within all quality parameters

  • Co-ordinate the efficient implementation of new products and maintain maximum loading capacities

  • Ensure all required quality, regulatory standards are met

  • Provide leadership and people management

  • Critical Results

  • Consistently meet with the Snr Sew Supervisor in analyzing production standards and work flow to anticipate problems, eliminate bottlenecks and make changes as needed

  • Schedule work to meet production requirements

  • Ensure that the lines are balanced for optimal productivity

  • Ensure that sufficient staffing is available at all times to complete daily tasks

  • Ensure that an appropriate level of inventory is maintained and communicate in this regard

  • Oversee and monitor day-to-day operations

  • Directly supervise, coach and mentor employees

  • Facilitate adherence to work policies, procedures and disciplinary code

  • Guide and support staff to ensure that production is completed timeously

  • Assist with on-the-job training of all new staff

  • Complete administrative duties

  • Maintain departmental housekeeping standards

  • Follow and support the ISO, Health and Safety and Quality systems


  • Grade 12 essential

  • Tertiary qualification in Clothing Management Technology or equivalent advantageous

  • Computer literacy essential

  • 3-5 years’ relevant experience in a Supervisory/ Teamleader role preferred

  • Sound understanding of garment construction

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, across all levels of employees

  • Planning and organizational skills with the ability to balance production and maintenance needs

  • Good interpersonal, conflict management & leadership skills – understanding of how the team influence results
