CONTRACT MANAGER: Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning

The cooling & heating company based in Honeydew Gauteng, is a reputable air-conditioning and refrigeration contractor that specialize both in the installation and maintenance of large residential, commercial and industrial-scale projects.
 
The specialist installation, maintenance and service client are seeking to recruit a Contracts Manager to join their team.


This is an all-round role which involves design/ quoting, liaising with clients and engineers on site.

My client is looking to recruit an experienced Air Conditioning Contracts Manager to join their team.

  • SALARY/ Highly negotiable according to knowledge, experience and skill set.
  • 5 Years Management experience in refrigeration & air-conditioning.
  • 50% Contribution to provident fund

Further duties:
  • Previous experience as a Contract / Project Manager
  • Background within the Air Conditioning industry
  • Experienced and qualified in Air Conditioning installations
  • Confident in all aspects of Air Conditioning and Refrigeration installs
  • Ability to work within a team or on your own
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Quoting contracts including sizing rooms for heat loss data, selecting correct equipment to install based on clients specification
  • Ability to read and understand design drawings and incorporate client specifications
  • Scale pipework from design drawings
  • Excellent man management skills along with excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to complete tasks to a tight deadline
  • Excellent customer relation skills
 
Roles and Responsibilities of the Service and Maintenance Contracts Manager:
  • Lead and manage a portfolio of Commercial HVAC, Refrigeration and FM Contracts, including team rotas standby, daily and weekly schedules, training and annual leave.
  • Responsibility for management and motivation of staff, and contractors to ensure the smooth running of the contracts.
  • Responsibility for the operation of the service department activities and can provide support and guidance to the engineers on site and be able to interpret technical requirements from engineers for the procurement of spare parts, repairs and remedials, and to discuss same with non-technical and technical clients alike.
  • Manage all aspects of Health & Safety* including carrying out tool-box talks to the team to refresh or roll-out any new company policy/procedures and ensuring compliance with all aspects of Health & Safety.
  • Liaise and develop relationships with the client's and their representatives. Actively attending sites for both client meetings and supervision, auditing works and to oversee any critical works.
  • Manage resources to ensure efficiency and contractual obligations are maintained.
  • Can set-up and mobilise new contracts including preliminary site surveys and compile asset information.
  • Be commercially aware, compile and present realistic quotations on all areas of the business operations (HVAC+R).
  • Maintain supplier relationships under favourable terms to the benefit of the company.
  • Monitor the financial aspects of the contracts and report on profitability

Criteria of the Service & Contracts Manager:

  • Have a clear understanding of all principles within contract management and Health & Safety* and be conversant with the latest regulations and legislation.
  • Industry experience is essential.
  • Be a good communicator, IT literate, proactive and have attention to detail.
  • Previous experience in management role.
  • Optimistic nature with a drive to encourage and motivate the team to ensure high level of staff performance.
  • Smart and professional at all times (self and team).
  • Good timekeeper with the ability to prioritize workload.
  • Certification of relevant qualifications.
